An autopsy of Thomas Frank Hoagland, who lived at 136 Island Cottage Way in St. Augustine, will be required before Flagler Beach Police will say what caused the death of the man whose body washed ashore Friday.
Flagler news sources are reporting that suicide has not been ruled out in the 60 year-old man’s death when police discovered lacerations on his wrists.
A woman walking along the beach in the area of Gamble Rogers State Recreation Area, in Flagler Beach, discovered Hoagland’s body on the sand at the edge of the surf and called police at about 11:00 a.m. Friday. The body was still on the beach at noon while authorities awaited arrival of the medical examiner.
Hoagland was born on New Year’s Day in 1951.
