National celebrity waits tables for Big Brothers
Rebecca Rubin Romaine informed local Historic City News reporters that a national celebrity has been enlisted to support the 16th Annual Tips for Kids Sake fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Johns County.
Award winning director, choreographer and dancer, Nathan Prevost, will be waiting tables at Sunset Grille on Tuesday, February 1st.
Prevost will be part of the team of waiters from The Dance Company who will donate all their tips to Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Johns County; including director, Scott Benson and board member, Jodi Kotrady-Hatin.
Benson came up with the idea when he realized that Prevost was going to be in town as a guest choreographer at The Dance Company on February 5th. Benson told Historic City News, “I asked Nathan to fly in from L.A. early to help us wait tables for the Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser.”
Prevost has worked on over 20 feature films including the Academy Award winners “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Forrest Gump,” “Boogie Nights” and the hits “Austin Powers Goldmember,” “Rent,” and more. Prevost has worked closely with such stars, directors and choreographers as Paula Abdul, Michael Kidd, Reba McEntire, Michael Peters, Beyonce, Mel Brooks, Mia Michaels, Brandy, Jack Nicholson, Spike Lee, Robert Zemeckis, Blake Edwards and Rob Marshall, to name just a few.
The 16th Annual Tips for Kids Sake will provide an opportunity to enjoy a great dinner, be entertained and support a good cause, all at the same time. This year’s event is being hosted by 17 restaurants and takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 5:00 to 8: 00 pm.
Tips for Kids Sake is the major fundraiser of the year for Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Johns County which worked with 225 children last year. The money goes to expand mentoring programs throughout St. Johns County. This year’s event is especially important in this economic climate as other funding sources are shrinking.
“Even if folks aren’t going out to dinner as much, we hope that they’ll choose to go out to a Tips restaurant knowing that their tip will be supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters” says Teresa Andrews, Director of Development.
Reservations are strongly encouraged. To make a reservation at Sunset Grille, where Prevost, Benson and Kotrady-Hatin will be serving, call (904) 471-5555.
