Six new ordinances considered Monday night

Historic City News will report to our readers on a total of six potential new ordinances that come before the St. Augustine City Commission Monday night during their regular business meeting.

Before commissioners vote to adopt each of the six new ordinances on second reading, a public hearing will be convened to allow comments from the audience; either for or against the new regulations.

To be heard Monday night:

• Public Hearing – Ordinance 2011-15, amending Section 28-89(1) of the Code of the City of St. Augustine to redefine the method for amendment of the Architectural Guidelines for Historic Preservation (AGHP); requiring that the City Commission approve any changes to the AGHP by Ordinance rather than by Resolution.

• Public Hearing – Ordinance 2011-16, amending the Architectural Guidelines for Historic Preservation (AGHP) for architectural styles other than colonial in the Historic Preservation-One (HP-1) Zoning District; additionally modifying the AGHP to incorporate the three (3) new National Register Districts.

• Public Hearing – Ordinance 2011-17, amending sections of Chapter 30 of the Code of the City of St. Augustine, relevant to Solid Waste regulations and franchises for Construction and Demolition Debris Removal.

• Public Hearing – Ordinance 2011-21, amending the Future Land Use Map for property located at 3501 N. Ponce de Leon Boulevard, also known as the Winn Dixie North Towne Shopping Center to be classified as Commercial Medium Intensity and removing the Industrial and Warehousing (IW) classification from the rear portion of the property.

• Public Hearing – Ordinance 2011-22, designating the property located 3501 N. Ponce de Leon Boulevard, also known as the Winn Dixie North Towne Shopping Center to be classified as Commercial Medium-Two (CM-2).

• Public Hearing – Ordinance 2011-25, amending Chapter 26, certain sections of Article I as to abbreviations and definitions; and certain sections of Article 4, related to updating the Industrial Pretreatment Program and adopting by reference the Fats Oil & Grease Program Manual, the Industrial Pretreatment Program Enforcement Response Plan and Local Limits.

It will be broadcast live on Comcast Government TV (Cable Channel 3) and is streamed over the Internet.
