St. Augustine Republican politico Bob Smith, invited all Historic City News readers to a Town Hall meeting to hear the author of the Contract with America, Newt Gingrich, when he visits Jacksonville Landing located at 2 Independent Drive in Jacksonville.
Hosted and presented by the First Coast Tea Party, presidential hopeful Gingrich will speak about familiar topics that have been updated for the 21st century.
Admission to the event is free and you can attend the Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, November 17 beginning at 2:00 P.M.
The planned meeting had to be relocated to Jacksonville Landing when Newt’s team realized that they would not be able to accommodate the expected crowd.
“If we are to solve our jobs crisis and meet the challenges of the 21st century, we need a plan for national renewal,” Gingrich told reporters. “The plan must recognize that our rights are endowed by our Creator and they are unalienable. It must also be based on the self-evident truths and timeless American values contained in the Declaration of Independence.”
Gingrich says that plan is the “21st Century Contract with America”.
The 21st Century Contract with America will be much larger than the original, and will consist of four parts.
• A set of legislative proposals to shift America back to job creation, prosperity, freedom, and safety
• A “First Day” project of Executive Orders to be signed on inauguration day to immediately transform the way the executive branch works
• A training program for the transition teams and the appointees who will lead the shift back to Constitutional, limited government
• A system of citizen involvement to help us sustain grassroots support for change and help implement the change through 2021
