Sgt. Chuck Mulligan reported to Historic City News that traffic homicide investigators with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle traffic crash with fatalities last night on CR-13 South — near Cow Pen Branch Road.
Investigator J. D. McGinnis reported that a 2006 Nissan Altima ran off the roadway and struck a tree around 8:20 p.m.
The crash closed a section of CR-13 South for several hours while the investigation was underway.
The 27 year-old driver of the vehicle, Carlos A. Bueso, Jr. whose address is 6 Gabriel Street in St. Augustine, was transported to Flagler Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Bueso was wearing his seatbelt, McGinnis reported.
The two passengers in the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. Both passengers were pronounced at the scene by St Johns County Fire Rescue, according to Sgt. Mulligan.
The victims were identified as 26 year-old John Currier, of St. Augustine and 40 year-old Sharon M. Pallet of St. Augustine.
No charges have been filed at this time pending a full investigation and results from the District 23 Medical Examiner’s autopsy report. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this crash investigation.
