Compliance Coordinator Jason Rickards reported a precautionary Boil Water Notice to Historic City News that affects customers who work or reside in a limited area of Ponte Vedra Beach serviced by the St. Johns County Utility Department.
The area affected includes a portion of the Sawgrass development east of A1A.
The limited includes these streets:
• Cove Road
• Deer Run Drive
• Deer Run Drive South
• Deer Run Lane
• Quail Pointe Court
• Quail Pointe Drive
• Quail Pointe Lane
• Sawgrass Racquet Club
• Tifton Way North
• Tifton Way South
St. Johns County Utility Department has reported that a water main break occurred in the area impacting an estimated 250 residents. Crews are on-site repairing the lines at this time.
Under the Precautionary Boil Water Notice, all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be boiled first. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative bottled water may be used.
The Precautionary Boil Water Notice will remain in effect until bacteriological surveys show that the water is safe to drink and a retraction notice is posted, which is typically a minimum of two days. This Boil Water Notice is anticipated to be retracted on May 7th, 2011 at approximately 11:00 AM.
Citizens may call our Boil Water Notice Hotline at (904) 209-2731 for updated information or visit our website at www.sjcutility.us. The local media has been notified of the Boil Water Notice and a Code Red System alert will be conducted. Public warning signs will also be erected.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
