May 14th – University of North Florida Nature Trails
Please join St Johns Audubon around Lake Oneida at UNF, checking out the island and then walk to the back of the nature trails looking for summer tanagers and brown-headed nuthatches.
The walk will be about two miles. Although most Neotropical migrants will already be out of the area we will look for late arrivals and nesting Florida birds. The nature trails cover several habitats including pine flatwoods and freshwater sloughs. This time of the year can be buggy so bring insect repellent. It will be an easy walk through a beautiful green oasis surrounded by urban sprawl. Meet in the parking lot of the nature trails at 7:00 am. The parking lot is the first right turn after entering the campus from 9A.
