Historic City News will report on an update from St. Augustine City Manager John Regan before commissioners at their regular Monday night meeting regarding negotiations with the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in response to complaints from the Nelmar Terrace neighborhood.
In June, the commission approved interlocal and partnership agreements with the school, requiring that “FSDB shall submit governance of the use of the Collins House and President’s House properties to the jurisdiction of the City’s Planning and Zoning Board, Historic Architectural Review Board and City Commission.”
If attorneys for the school agree to bring the controversial property under City governance, then all future improvements and uses will have to be carried out in accordance with the requirements of procedures established by the City’s Code.
If you are planning to attend — the regular St. Augustine City Commission meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday and will be held in the Alcazar Room; on the first floor of City Hall, located at 75 King Street in St. Augustine. It will be broadcast live on Comcast Government TV (Cable Channel 3) and is streamed over the Internet.
