More than five years of planning will move into action beginning tomorrow morning when Historic City News reporters join St. Augustine City Commissioners to mark the start of the $3.4 million Riberia Street Rehabilitation Project.
There will be a brief ceremony beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18th near the intersection of Riberia Street and Bridge Street; on the north end of the Marine Supply & Oil Company property. Parking is available in the company’s customer parking area during the ceremony.
Martha Graham, P. E., the city’s Public Works Director, told Historic City News that the project will address a number of infrastructure needs along the Riberia Street corridor south of King Street including installation of new storm-drains and sidewalks, replacement of sanitary sewer, force-mains and water-mains and buried electric lines.
Phase I of the project will be focused on the area between King Street and Bridge Street, and Phase II will include the area south of Bridge Street — each phase of construction lasting approximately one year.
