Road repairs and maintenance planned
Laurie Sanderson reported the following St. Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through September 23rd
State Road A1A – Bridge of Lions:The Bridge of Lions will be completely closed to all traffic from 10 p.m. Wednesday, September 21 to 4 a.m. Thursday, September 22 to allow the painted roadway markings to be removed and replaced with a high-performance tape.
Traffic will be detoured to the State Road 312 bridge during the closure. In the event of rain, the work will be postponed until the following week.
County Road 13 at Sixteen Mile Creek: Daytime lane closures while crews remove temporary pavement and construct a connection to Cracker Swamp Road. Traffic is not currently permitted to access Cracker Swamp Road directly from County Road 13. Traffic is detoured east on County Road 13 to south on Reid Packing House Road to access Cracker Swamp Road. The speed limit in this area has been reduced to 40 mph.
US 1 from King Street to State Road 16: Daytime lane closures while crews repaint the roadway markings except in the construction area at San Sebastian River Bridge.
State Road 206 from State Road 207 to State Road A1A: Daytime lane closures while crews repaint the roadway markings.
State Road 207 from Cypress Links Boulevard to I-95 (the southbound on-ramp): Daytime lane closures for eastbound traffic from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, September 19 through Thursday, September 22 for ditch cleaning.
State Road 207 from the Putnam County line to US 1:Daytime lane closures while crews repaint the roadway markings.
State Road 312 from US 1 to State Road A1A: Daytime lane closures while crews repaint the roadway markings.
State Road A1A – Summer Haven Bridges (just north of Marineland): Traffic is scheduled to be shifted onto the newly-constructed southernmost bridge by 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 20. Intermittent daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic will occur all week, beginning Monday, September 19, for construction activities. Motorists should drive with caution through the narrow lanes in the construction area and watch for trucks entering and leaving the worksite.
State Road A1A from 23rd Street to Mickler Road: Daytime lane closures for northbound traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, September 19 through Thursday, September 22 to trim trees and clean bicycle lanes.
State Road A1A from Ponte Vedra Boulevard to the Duval County line: Daytime lane closures while crews repaint the roadway markings.
State Road A1A from the St. Johns/Flagler County line to Summer Haven (Sea Wall): Possible daytime lane closures for delivery of equipment and materials.
US 1 at the San Sebastian River Bridge from Saragossa Street to King Street: Nighttime lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. in both directions Sunday, September 18 through Wednesday, September 21. Northbound nighttime lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday September 22 and Friday, September 23. All work is related to the US 1 San Sebastian River Bridge Replacement Project.
