Cathy Dupont informed Historic City News that the St. Patrick’s Day Parade scheduled for Saturday, March 12th at 10:00 a.m. will necessitate a number of disruptions of traffic in parts of downtown St. Augustine.
The parade will start at the corner of King Street and Cordova Street and will move east to Avenida Menendez, then north along Avenida Menendez to South Castillo Drive. The route will turn west on Orange Street then south on Cordova Street; returning to King Street.
The parade will form up and disband in the parking lots to the south of the Lightner Building so parking in that area will not be available until after mid-day.
Through traffic on Cordova Street and Granada Street between King Street and Bridge Street will have limited access off and on from approximately 9:30 a.m. until noon.
Streets will be closed to traffic only as long as necessary to allow the parade to pass, but will affect King Street east of Cordova Street, Avenida Menendez, Orange Street and Cordova Street.
The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. and should last approximately 90 minutes.
Vehicular traffic may want to avoid these areas during this time. Please note that traffic in the vicinity of Francis Field and the Historic Downtown Parking Facility, north of the parade route, will likely be heavy because of the St. Augustine Lions Seafood and Music Festival.
