Public Information Officer Debra Johnson told local St. Johns County reporters with Historic City News that deputies in Flagler County are investigating a Palm Coast bank robbery that occurred shortly before 3:00 p.m. today.
Witnesses told deputies that the robber entered the Hancock Bank in the Palm Harbor Shopping Center in Palm Coast, walked up to the teller station and displayed what appeared to be a silver, small caliber handgun.
He demanded money and after the teller complied, he fled in a white Oldsmobile Alero. The vehicle was last seen headed out of the shopping center parking lot toward Florida Park Drive.
The robber is described as a white male last seen wearing a long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, white hat and mirrored sunglasses.
Witnesses said he was wearing a piece of dark clothing over his face.
The FBI is responding to the scene.
“We are hoping someone may have seen the robber’s direction of travel or may be familiar with the man and vehicle,” said Flagler County Sheriff Donald W. Fleming.
Anyone with information on this crime or who knows the whereabouts of the vehicle is asked to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at (386) 313-4911 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
