Sisters of St Joseph of St Augustine superior, Sister Jane Stoecker, informed local Historic City News reporters that the 145 year-old order has opened the doors to Villa Flora and Brown Hall for private individual and group retreats.
Villa Flora provides a place for quiet reflection, spiritual programs and conferences; while Brown Hall, originally designed as a formation house for Sisters, features several private bedrooms, gathering space and a serene courtyard.
Known as “Villa Flora-Brown Hall Renewal Center”, the buildings were constructed in 1898; across the street from the order’s convent. The Center provides parlor space, fireplaces, a conference room and stained glass windows.
The facility can accommodate groups and individuals, who can stay in one of its ten sleeping rooms with shared baths or one bedroom-office suite. Gathering space with Internet access and a kitchenette are available.
Members of the religious order will offer spiritual direction there by appointment, as well as book studies and various programs open to the public.
