St. Johns County public information officer Jeremy Robshaw informed Historic City News that on Thursday, Wil Smith was appointed as the Interim Director for the County’s Recreation and Parks Department; temporarily filling the position left vacant by Troy Blevins.
Smith joined the County in 1997. He was promoted through the Recreation and Parks Department and assumed the role of Assistant Director in 2007.
A graduate of Flagler College, Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management and has an extensive background in operational programming and grants management.

“St. Johns County is fortunate to have someone with Wil’s experience, leadership and educational background who can seamlessly assume the leadership role within the Recreation and Parks Department,” Wanchick said.
Smith and the experienced Recreation and Parks Department staff will continue to provide the high quality programs and services members of the community have come to expect and value.
