Spanish Quarter Museum reopens for one week

Catherine Culver announced to local reporters at Historic City News that beginning Monday, December 26, through Saturday, December 31, the Colonial Spanish Quarter will reopen, for one week only, with two special programs running concurrently.

Do you know the difference between a Christmas hymn, carol, and song? Do you know the secret message behind “Twelve Days of Christmas?” Visitors to De Mesa House, 43 St. George Street, will hear this and other bits of history in this special musical program, Yuletide Greetings in History and Song. Surrounded by holiday decorations reminiscent of earlier times, historically clad singers will share St. Augustine’s colorful history through holiday song. Event times are 10:00, 11:00, 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00.

Hourly tours through the Colonial Spanish Quarter will also be available with a purchased ticket. Historic interpreters will guide visitors back through 1740s Spanish St. Augustine visiting craftsmen and artisans as they spend a typical day in the presidio town. Tours are at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00.

Admission to each program is $5.00 per person plus tax; children 6 and under are free. A joint ticket to both events runs $8.00 per person plus tax. Purchased tickets are good for specific dates and times only.

Entrance to the Colonial Spanish Quarter is at 29 St. George Street, the pedestrian friendly street in the heart of the historic colonial city.
