This afternoon’s agenda may be short, however, Historic City News has received word that the St. Johns County School Board special meeting will be well attended — prompting the district office to move the meeting from the Superintendent’s Conference Room into the larger School Board Auditorium.
This afternoon’s session will deal with a controversial redistricting recommendation being advanced by representatives of the American Civil Liberties Union and National Association of Colored People, which has some members of the community crying, “foul”.
In addition to a discussion among School Board members, as well as comments from the Superintendent, the bulk of the meeting will likely be consumed with public comment.
It is not clear how long the special meeting will last; however, the regular meeting of the St. Johns County School Board will follow at 6:00 p.m.
If you plan to attend, the School Board Auditorium is located on the third floor of the Administration Building at 40 Orange Street in St. Augustine. Allow time to locate a parking space and to register with the receptionist for a security pass.
