Students to volunteer at Haven Horse Ranch

Students in Free Enterprise contacted the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office for help identifying a youth program interested in participating in an ongoing project with St Augustine’s Flagler College student organization; and today, they announced their selection to Historic City News.

Students in Free Enterprise focus their efforts on social, economic, or environmental projects in the community. This year, they have chosen to assist with the maintenance and growing needs of the 26-acre Haven Horse Ranch; located at 7333 CR-208 in St Augustine.

Haven Horse Ranch Executive Director Ric Lehman and Stacey Lehman, Vice President of Therapy at the ranch, say their non-profit organization provides camps, trail rides, clinics, retreats, and lesson programs using horses to teach children life’s basic principles.

Haven Horse Ranch claims to be the largest equine-assisted therapy center in Northeast Florida — working with those who suffer from many physical and mental disabilities.

This partnership is expected to teach students a sense of accountability and responsibility, as well as establishing the importance of community service.
