Tour-de-Farm this Sunday

Richard Villadoniga reported to Historic City News that this weekend, on Sunday, April 10th, Slow Food First Coast will hold their first Tour-de-Farm; an open house for many local farms in St. John’s, Baker, Bradford, Duval and Putnam Counties.

The Tour-de-Farm, being held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., will provide people from the First Coast an opportunity to learn about local food production, meet the farmers who produce local food as well as the chefs and artisans who are committed to using locally-grown ingredients.

“Twenty-four farms will open their gates for the community,” Villadoniga told Historic City News. “For many people, it will be their first opportunity to actually see where our food comes from.”

You can attend educational farm workshops, visit a cattle and goat ranch, taste produce right from the field, talk with farmers, visit with community gardeners, and find local business owners who are committed to more sustainable practices and growing our local economy.

CitySprouter Cash McVay told Historic City News reporters that the Lincolnville Community Garden is honored to be included in this Slow Food First Coast event. “If you have not had an opportunity to visit the garden, this will be a fabulous day to do so,” McVay said.

During this five-county special event, you will have the opportunity to enter a free raffle at each location you visit. There are multiple prizes, but only a single raffle; so the more locations you visit, the higher your chances of winning!
