Traffic shift over San Sebastian Bridge Sunday
Historic City News readers are cautioned to be alert to a new traffic flow as the Florida Department of Transportation begins to shift lanes along north Ponce de Leon Boulevard to accommodate construction at the San Sebastian River Bridge.
Northbound traffic, just north of King Street, will be shifted to the southeast Sunday night.
One northbound lane will be closed on US-1 between King Street and Saragossa Street from 7:30 p.m. Sunday, September 25 to 6 a.m. Monday, September 26 to accommodate the shift.
Inclement weather or other unforeseen delays may affect the construction and the scheduled traffic shift.
Approximately one week later, southbound traffic will also shift to the southeast.
These modifications to the traffic pattern through this area will remain in place for several months and are necessary for the replacement of the US-1 San Sebastian River Bridge.
This project began in June and should be complete in spring 2013.
Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through the area during and after the shift as commuters adjust to the new traffic pattern.
