Traffic shift at Summer Haven Bridge
Traffic is scheduled to be redirected onto the newly constructed southernmost Summer Haven Bridge by 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, according to an announced from the Florida Department of Transportation by Historic City News today.
The southernmost bridge is the third bridge encountered when traveling south from St. Augustine.
Flagging operations will occur all week, beginning Monday, September 19, to accommodate the traffic shift and to allow for completion of work in the area. Inclement weather or other unforeseen delays may affect the construction and the scheduled traffic shift.
The sidewalk along the west edge of the roadway will remain closed following the traffic shift. The sidewalk will open following installation of a safety railing along the west edge.
The new traffic pattern will provide 12-foot wide lanes and a barrier wall separating vehicles and pedestrians.
Motorists are advised to be cautious while traveling through the area during and after the shift as commuters adjust to the new traffic pattern.
Completion of the Summer Haven bridge replacement project is scheduled for Spring 2012.
