Historic City News crime reporters learned that shortly before 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, a man walked into Shooting Sports Pro Shop, located at 525 SR-16 in St. Augustine, and, when the clerk was not looking, he stole two handguns and a rifle.
Sheriff David B. Shoar is asking Historic City News readers to help identify the man whose image, and the image of his car, was captured on surveillance video.
The thief is described as a white male in his mid to late 20’s with multiple tattoos on his left arm, including one that reads “U.S.M.C.”, short dark hair in a spikey cut, 6’ tall and about 175 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a black tank top, tan shorts, black flip flops, and a black backpack.
The man left the scene in a dark colored SUV — possibly a 2001-2006 Acura MDX.
Anyone with any information concerning the identity of this suspect is asked to contact Property Crimes Unit Detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 824-8304. You can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-(888) 277-TIPS (8477).
