The 38 year-old woman who St. Augustine Record reporter Peter Guinta referred to last April as “a beautiful, energetic and prosperous businesswoman with long experience in networking and a real commitment to her Christian beliefs” is back in custody in the St. Johns County Detention Facility.
Andrea Lee Zampatti was thrust into the headlines April 23, 2010, after the SUV she was driving charged five civilians and two deputies.
At about 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, Zampatti was booked into the county jail where she is being held without bond.
Following a psychological evaluation, dated May 15, 2010, from Roger Davis, PhD., the court issued an order on July 23, 2010, adjudging Zampatti incompetent to proceed and ordered her commitment to the Florida Department of Children and Families.
The court reopened the case December 29th after receipt of an updated psychological evaluation dated December 23rd which included a proposed order in the matter.
The results of the evaluation have not yet been published.
Zampatti’s original attorney, Bryan L. Shorstein, was allowed to withdraw from the case in October. Zampatti will be represented by attorney John H. Trevena when she returns to court for her felony pretrial which has been set for January 13, 2011, at 1:30 p.m., before Judge Wendy W. Berger.
