Despite a budget destined for cuts, Historic City News has learned that the St Johns County Industrial Development Authority members want to spend $25,000 to host a two-hour reception at Stadium Village, adjacent to the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse.
A planning meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 and a regular business meeting at 3:00 p.m., will convene to discuss the major expense item and other plans related to THE PLAYERS Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach when it is held on Thursday, May 10th.
On the regular business meeting agenda:
• Public Hearing for Flagler Hospital Bond Refinance Request
• Consideration and possible passage of the Flagler Hospital Bond Resolution
• Approval of Hospitality Agreement for TPC Welcome Reception
Both meetings will be held in the Executive Conference Room at the St Johns County Administration Palace located at 500 San Sebastian View in St Augustine.
At a public hearing, the Authority members will consider a 110-page resolution; authorizing the sale of Series 2012a and Series 2012b, in an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $30,000,000, for the purpose of obtaining funds to loan to Flagler Hospital, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation, to finance all or a part of the costs of the acquisition, renovation, construction and installation of certain health care facilities and equipment at the hospital’s existing facilities in St Johns County.
If the Authority approves the THE PLAYERS Championship reception purchase, TPC staff will provide and serve heavy appetizers, a premium dinner buffet, as well as a premium bar that includes liquor, beer and wine to 350 un-named VIP guests.
The $25,000 purchase includes eight Benefactor tickets to the golf tournament — but only 4 parking passes.
No promises, but the County might also get up to twenty, 30-second promotional spots on SiriusXM and up to six more on Live@ — but that depends on available inventory.
