Drugs in deposit bag land employee in jail

When a local Dunkin Donuts employee dropped off her deposit at Regions Bank on South Ponce de Leon Boulevard Tuesday afternoon, there was more in her bank bag than cash; according to information received by Historic City News in St Augustine.

St Augustine Police Department spokesman Mark Samson told reporters that Kimberly Antoinette Kelley, a 30 year-old woman who resides at 1040 Bruen St, apparently left 55 grams of marijuana in with the deposit.

When a bank employee discovered the contraband, they locked the marijuana in the vault and called police; then they notified Kelley that the deposit slip would not be available until the following day.

Kelley asked the teller if she left anything else in with the deposit and she was told that she did. Kelley asked for the bag back. When the teller declined, Kelley went inside the bank to talk to the manager.

St Augustine Police Officer Kevin Carroll arrived at the bank, field-tested the substance, which tested positive for marijuana, then he arrested Kelley, and transported her to the St John’s County Detention Facility.

Kelley was charged with third-degree felony possession and released the following day after posting a $5000 appearance bond.
