The Florida Highway Patrol informed Historic City News local reporters that they are investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash involving an open-bed tractor trailer that occurred at approximately 1:30 pm today on the northbound on-ramp from SR-207 onto I-95.
Firefighter-Paramedic Matthew Sara, B-Shift Public Information Officer, reported that
When St Johns County Fire Rescue responded to the scene, they found the tractor trailer rolled over on its side.
The heavy vehicle had been hauling gravel before the accident, according to Sara.
An active diesel and hydraulic fluid leak was discovered. The St. Johns County HAZMAT team was called to respond.
The accident had vehicular traffic onto the Interstate completely blocked.
The HAZMAT team was able to stop both leaks and the spill was contained to the roadway with no runoff into the drainage ditch.
The approximate amount spilled was 10 gallons of diesel fuel and 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid.
There were no injuries and the driver was able to exit the vehicle on his own.
