A 29 year-old Hastings woman is in custody tonight following a hit-and-run crash between a motorcycle and pickup truck after witnesses identified her as the driver of the vehicle that fled the scene in Flagler Estates yesterday afternoon.
Elise Natalia Delacruz was arrested today at her residence at 4625 Jonathan Street in Hastings when traffic homicide investigators located the heavily damaged pickup truck that officers believe was involved in the collision.
She was transported to the St Johns County Detention Facility where she was booked on charges of driving on a suspended driver’s license (habitual violator), leaving the scene of a crash with serious injury, and leaving the scene of a crash with damage to property (2 counts).
The victim, 25 year-old Michael Daniel Turner, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash that occurred in the area of Nikolich Avenue and Helena Street in Flagler Estates on Monday according to the report. He remains in critical condition at Halifax Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Sheriff’s spokesperson, Corporal Catherine Payne, told Historic City News that when Traffic Homicide Investigators contacted Delacruz today, she admitted being the driver of the truck and leaving the scene of the crash.
Delacruz will have an arraignment hearing tomorrow morning; at which time bond, if any, will be established.
