Immediate Past District Governor, Jim Miller, announced to Historic City News that Patricia Heiss received recognition as “Area Governor of the Year” for Toastmasters International District 84 during their recent Fall Conference held in Lake Mary.
Since joining Toastmasters in 1998, Heiss has served as club President, Vice President Public Relations and Secretary of Toast of St Johns County and Secretary of San Sebastian Toastmasters.
“Area Governor of the Year” is a recognition given by District leadership to the area governor who makes the most outstanding contributions to district goal achievement. In her position, Heiss was credited for leading 83-percent of her clubs to reach Distinguished Club status, or higher.
She has competed in Table Topics and Evaluations contests, and placed in the Humorous Speech contests. Also she has served as judge in Tropicana speech contests at elementary schools throughout St. Johns County and has coached and judged students in the Woodsman Speech contest at Cathedral Parish School.
The 46-year-old Records Management Liaison Officer for the St Johns County Tax Collector’s Office, and her husband Grady, live in St Augustine. Patsy serves as lector at her parish, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine.
