Lifeguard tryouts this Saturday

Marine Rescue Lieutenant Jeremy Robshaw, reminded Historic City News that St Johns County Fire Rescue will hold its annual lifeguard tryouts for the 2012 beach season this weekend.

Applicants can perform a live tryout this Saturday, January 28, at 10:00 a.m., or on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.

Both tryouts will be held at the Solomon Calhoun Center located at 1300 West Duval Street in St Augustine.

The tryout will consist of the following:

500 meter swim – Required time: 10 minutes, or less
1/2 mile run – Required time: in 3 minutes, 30 seconds, or less

This is an open tryout to anyone 18 years of age or older interested in employment with Marine Rescue during the 2012 season. In order to be eligible for employment, applicants must successfully pass the tryout and attend the Marine Rescue Academy.

After completion of both the tryout and academy, applicants will become eligible for employment.
