Flagler College to screen rock docs outdoors through May. For those about to rock, you can salute the genre on screen as Flagler College and the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum present “Sold Out Show,” a rock documentary film series screening Thursdays at 8 p.m. beginning May 10. The series will kick off with the 1970 classic, “Gimme Shelter,” which follows the Rolling Stones and their tragic free concert at Altamont Speedway near San Francisco in early December 1969. “Sold Out Show” will continue with “Heavy Metal Parking Lot” and “Anvil: The Story of Anvil” on May 17, “1991: The Year Punk Broke” on May 24 and finish up with “The Other F Word” on May 31. The films will be presented by special guests who will be available for a question and answer session after each documentary. The films will be screened indoors at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum, 48 Sevilla St., if there is inclement weather. There will be no seating provided and guests are urged to bring a blanket or beach chairs under 24″ tall. Jimmy Day is a graduate of the University of Miami, a master distiller and owner of the local firm, Flagler Spirits. As a result of his family having a long and colorful history of “distilling” in North Florida, he will discuss the history of moonshining in the area from pre-Civil War to the present. He will also bring together the economics and culture of the moonshine industry in a lively and informative presentation. Lectures are free and open to the public.
