Man offering drugs in exchange for sex arrested

Historic City News has learned that members of the St Johns County Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit have completed a week-long investigation that began after a female victim described sexual abuse committed against her by a 48-year-old St Johns County man over the past three or four years.

During a counseling session, the victim revealed that John Allen Clark Jr, who resides at 1990 Powell Road in St Augustine, had been sexually abusing her, offering her drugs in exchange for sex. The illegal activity occurred during the years 2009 through this year, according to Kevin Kelshaw, Media Relations Officer for the Sheriff’s Office.

Earlier today, investigators reached Clark and brought him to the office for questioning. After the interview, Clark was placed under arrest and taken to the St Johns County Detention Facility.

Clark has been charged with sexual battery against a victim between the ages of 12-17, four-counts of incest, and one-count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Clark remains in custody at this time in lieu of bonds totaling over $700,000.

Kelshaw told Historic City News that the investigation is continuing.
