Prior to the 9:00 a.m. meeting of the St Johns County Commission on October 2, an opening reception of original oil paintings by accomplished local artist, Ann McGlade, will take place in the Rotunda Gallery of the St Johns County Administration Palace beginning at 8:15 a.m.
Her award-winning oil paintings have been exhibited in museums and juried shows from New York to Oregon.
McGlade, a resident of Saint Augustine, focuses her latest work on local ballerinas who exemplify the grace, beauty and athleticism of the human form. She is also the official artist of the St Augustine Ballet; a local non-profit arts organization.
Members from the St Augustine Ballet will bring her paintings to life with a brief performance and perhaps a sneak peak at their upcoming annual Nutcracker. Eva Karjono, a member of the Jacksonville Youth Orchestra will play violin.
Directly after the reception, the Board of County Commissioners will recognize October as National Arts and Humanities Month in St Johns County.
The oil paintings will be displayed in the Rotunda Gallery located at 500 San Sebastian View in St Augustine; open to the public from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, from October 2 through December 28, 2012.
