2012 Northeast Florida Youth of the Year
Recipient: Joseph Davis
Davis is a sophomore at Englewood High School. Stubberfield told reporters that Davis is a highly motivated scholar; maintaining a 3.0 GPA. According to Stubberfield, Davis plans to continue his education by pursuing a degree in Psychology.
He still finds time to volunteer at Southside Middle School TEAM UP — serving as president of their Keystone Club. Davis leads other Club members in academic success programs and helps to keep the campus clean.
Davis is a volunteer with Relay for Life, Nemours Toy Drives and Students Working Against Tobacco (S.W.A.T).
At the awards ceremony, guest speaker Donovin Darius encouraged the audience to always aim higher, saying “attitude determines altitude”.
All three finalists received a $1,000 scholarship courtesy of Jackson-Shaw. As the Youth of the Year of Northeast Florida, Joseph earned an additional $1,000 and will go on to compete in the State Youth of the Year on April 16th.
