Historic City News reporters have learned the results of a LobbyTools’ poll last week asking whether the “Stand Your Ground” law should be changed, repealed or left alone in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting in Sanford.
Of those who responded to the poll, only 26% expressed an opinion that the law should be abolished; although another 23% do believe that the law should be rewritten.
Fifty-one percent said, without condition, the law should be left as it is — almost evenly dividing respondents who feel that at least some revision is needed while still making a strong statement that those polled would not like to see the protections offered under the law repealed altogether.
