St Johns County Fire Rescue informed local Historic City News reporters that they responded to a recreational vehicle fire at the 316-mile marker of Interstate 95 at approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning.
Upon arrival on scene, crews found a full size RV fully involved in flames, according to Fire Rescue Public Information Officer, Lt. Jeremy Robshaw. “Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and quickly brought the flames under control without incident.”
Because of the fire, the vehicle did leak approximately 40 gallons of diesel fuel that prompted a notification to the Department of Environmental Protection and the State Warning Point.
Due to the size of the vehicle and fire, the road was completely closed for a short period while the flames were brought under control and the Florida Highway Patrol deemed the roadway safe for travel.
Robshaw told reporters that there were no injuries during this incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Robshaw said.
