Most people think of the Matanzas River and its downtown bayfront when they think of St Augustine’s waterfront, but the city has another waterfront as well: the San Sebastian River.
It is the city’s “other waterfront” that will get all the attention on May 19 when the City of St Augustine, St Johns County, Florida East Coast Railroad and American Compliance Technologies come together to host a water body clean up, and the public is invited.
Starting at 7:30 a.m. and lasting until noon, participants should gather at one of two locations: at Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Orange Street or at State Road 16 and Lewis Speedway.
Signs will be at both locations directing participants to parking, and all participants should come prepared with sunscreen, gloves, boots or old tennis shoes that are okay to get muddy.
Those with canoes or kayaks are welcome as well.
