Ripley Entertainment Vice President of Communications, Tim O’Brien, reported to Historic City News that although the multi-national exhibitor has been unable to verify the Mayan claims that the world will come to an end on Friday, it is prepared in case they do.
Before his death, Robert L. Ripley, in honor of St Augustine becoming the location of the first Believe It or Not! Odditorium, requested that all visitors who experience the apocalyptic end of the world on Friday, December 21, 2012, are to be granted free admission to the popular local attraction on Saturday.*
“If the earth crumbles, burns, implodes, or just goes dark on Friday, at least people will have something to look forward to on Saturday,” said O’Brien. “We feel pretty good about this deal; but, if we’re wrong, it’s going to cost us a lot of money.”
As the authority on all things weird but true, Ripley’s researchers and experts have reviewed the Mayan calendar, Mayan culture and even Maya Angelou – and can’t verify the prophecy as true; the hallmark necessary to become a genuine “Believe it or Not!”
Still O’Brien says, “If the world ends on Friday, enjoy a free day at Ripley’s on Saturday”.
Should the world *not* end on Friday, people are invited to experience all the weird, bizarre and amazing things that Ripley’s has to offer – they’ll just have to purchase a ticket to do so.
(*) Proof of end of the world required. No purchase necessary. Cannot be combined with other offers.
