Second Annual Christmas in Old St Augustine

Mark Schmitt announced to local Historic City News reporters that Florida Living History will present the “Second Annual Christmas in Old St Augustine” heritage event by torch and candlelight on the shores of beautiful Matanzas Bay.

The event features the Christmas customs and music of 16th-century Florida, and takes place on the grounds of historic Mission Nombre de Dios and Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche.

Enjoy a long list of entertainment that includes singing of traditional Spanish and Catalan Christmas songs, living historians dressed in 16th-century garb, presentation of a medieval Spanish Christmas play, 16th- and 17th-century Spanish Christmas and Renaissance music performed by harp and guitar, and a procession for children of all ages; re-enacting Mary and Joseph’s search for lodgings in Bethlehem on the first Christmas Eve.

Thanks to support, provided, in part, by NTE Energy and the Florida Humanities Council, admission to Navidad 2012 is free of charge from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15th, at 27 Ocean Avenue in St Augustine; the oldest, continually occupied European city, port, and parish in the continental United States.
