Supervisor Vicky Oakes taking elections office to you

St Johns County Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes announced to Historic City News today that her office would begin its “Voter Outreach Program” tomorrow at the St Augustine Lions Seafood Festival.

Through this outreach program, Oakes says residents of St Johns County can register to vote, update their voter record, request an absentee ballot or obtain elections information through convenient kiosks manned by members of the elections office staff.

“With the 2012 Primary and General Elections on the horizon, my office will be reaching out to the community,” Supervisor Oakes said. “In today’s busy environment, many voters have a tendency to overlook updating their voter record — or even to register to vote.”

Oakes told Historic City News that she is further enhancing her office’s website so that she can better serve the community.

“During the spring and summer months, before the August Primary Election, many St Johns County residents take vacations,” Oakes told reporters. “If they still have access to the Internet, I want the elections office to be close at hand.”

Oakes pledged that she and her staff will be attending many scheduled local events, festivals, and other public activities. “Voter outreach is another way the Supervisor of Elections can serve the community.”
