B-Shift Public Information Officer Matthew Sara informed local Historic City News reporters that St Johns County Fire Rescue responded to a traffic fatality resulting from a vehicle-vs-motorcycle crash at approximately 9:50 p.m. last night.
The two-vehicle collision took place on SR-16 near the intersection of International Golf Parkway between a 2010 GMC Acadia and 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle with a single rider.
“Crews deployed an advanced life support engine and rescue unit to the call; they arrived on the scene within two minutes,” Sara told Historic City News.
Trooper D. Tomlinson reported that the operator of the motorcycle, 17 year-old Scott A Milton of St Augustine, ran the red traffic light at the intersection of SR-16 and International Golf Parkway entering into the path of the second vehicle.
Sara reported that Milton was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead on arrival by paramedics.
The crash caused no significant injuries to the driver of the Acadia; 43 year-old Melissa C Marro of St Augustine, or her two passengers; 16 year-old Lily J Marro, also of St Augustine, and 16 year-old Alexis P Smith of Summerville, SC.
Marro’s vehicle sustained about $10,000 in damages, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.
Traffic Homicide Investigator, Cpl. P. Young, told reporters that charges in this case are pending the results of blood alcohol tests.
