Nevada author, Tal Leverett, has invited local Historic City News readers to join him, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on December 22nd and 23rd, when he will be visiting St Augustine and available to inscribe copies of his book, “The White Bear”.
Mr. Leverett is a winter resident of Palm Bay, FL and spends the rest of the year at his home in Reno, Nevada. He was a featured author, invited to speak about his book, at The Miami International Book Fair last month.
“A friend of mine was having trouble with his teenaged son,” Leverett explained. “He had been expelled from college after being arrested on drug related charges.”
The young man’s life was in disarray and he asked if he could move to Lake Tahoe and stay with Leverett. Once he arrived, Leverett introduced him to the healthy outdoor lifestyle of the Sierras around Tahoe.
The signing event will be held at the St Augustine Market Place; located on the north side of SR-207, just east of I-95. The author said you may bring your own copy with you for inscription — although there will be a number of copies available at the signing.
“The book is about my actual experiences during a hike when we first encountered the large female white bear and her two cubs,” Leverett told reporters. “Nature lovers will enjoy the descriptions of the California wilderness area, just south of Reno, the pleasures of hiking the Sierras, and share an experience between another lover of nature and its creatures.”
The book tells a story of coming-of-age and personal growth for the young man, as well as the story of a very rare creature and her life.
