Historic City News reporters were notified by Sacha Martin today that Jax Water Tours has begun water-taxi service between the new 150-foot public dock at the Vilano Beach Pier, Camachee Island and the St Augustine Municipal Marina.
The water taxi is a bike-friendly connection between the beach and the mainland.
HORIZONS III is a US Coast Guard inspected 35′ Pontoon vessel. We are limited to 14 passengers and 2 crew members. The vessel does have an bathroom on-board and is wheelchair accessible.
The November schedule:
From Vilano Beach:
Departs the Vilano Dock every two hours:
Sunday through Thursday:
10:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Two additional departures on Friday & Saturday:
8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
From Camachee Island:
Sunday through Thursday:
Departs the dock at Comachee Island every two hours:
10:20 a.m., 12:20 p.m., 2:20 p.m., 4:20 p.m. and 6:20 p.m.
Two additional departures on Friday & Saturday:
8:20 p.m. and 10:20 p.m.
From the Municipal Marina:
Sunday through Thursday:
Departs the St Augustine Municipal Marina every two hours:
11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m.
Two additional departures on Friday & Saturday:
9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
Fare is $5. For local residents and commuters, there is a ten ride punch card for $30.
As this is the inaugural taxi service, schedule and other benefits may change in December.
