Alan Jackson, the American country music singer, known for blending traditional honky-tonk and mainstream country sounds and penning many of his own hits appeared live on stage at the St Augustine Amphitheatre last night and Historic City News was there.
Opening for Jackson was American country music group Gloriana; founded in 2008 and already climbing the billboard charts. Gloriana, with brothers Tom Gossin and Mike Gossin on vocals and guitar, met songwriter and guitarist Rachel Reinert, the third member of the group, through her MySpace page. The Gossins were attending University of North Carolina at Wilmington when they decided to move to Nashville and begin performing as a duo. Reinert, a native of Sarasota, moved to Nashville and has been part of the band ever since.
Jackson, a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and 2001 inductee into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, has sold more than 60 million records worldwide. The superstar, who records on the Arista Nashville record label, is the recipient of 2 Grammys, 16 CMA Awards, 17 ACM Awards and nominee of multiple other awards.
Jackson has recorded 14 studio albums, three Greatest Hits albums, two Christmas albums, one Gospel album and several compilations. More than 50 of his singles have appeared on Billboard’s list of the “Top 30 Country Songs”. 35 of Jackson’s songs were number-one hits, with 50 in the Top 10.
