Attacker located and arrested in Mayport

400-Joseph-Anthony-ScaglionA 27-year-old Neptune Beach man was arrested, and released, yesterday; accused by St Augustine Police of stopping his motorcycle on the Bridge of Lions and beating a passing pedestrian on Sunday, April 7, 2013.

Spokesman Mark Samson reported to Historic City News that Joseph Anthony Scaglione was arrested by Jacksonville police on a St Johns County warrant while on his job at the Mayport Naval Station.

Scaglione, who lives at 2004 1st Street, in Neptune Beach, is employed at the Fire Department on the naval base. He was identified from a photographic line-up by the local victim and another witness to the crime.

Scaglione was released after posting a $1,000 appearance bond.
