Historic City News has learned that about 15 paintings from the series “La Florida” by artist Roger Bansemer will be exhibited in the Rotunda Gallery located in the St Johns County Administration Palace from August 6 through October 24, 2013.
An opening reception will be held on Tuesday, August 6 starting at 8:15 a.m., just before the Board of County Commission meeting. Light refreshments will be served. Historic City News readers are invited and encouraged to attend.
Bansemer has created a series of paintings featuring vanishing Florida landscapes and historic sites in the St. Augustine area.
Roger and Sarah Bansemer moved here from Clearwater in 2011 and say that they enjoy the historic and artistic nature of the area. Since 2006, they have produced an educational television series for PBS. Bansemer said that they have aired episodes filmed locally including The Lightner Museum, El Galeon, farmlands at Hastings, and the St Augustine lighthouse.
The exhibit is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and is located at 500 San Sebastian Way in St Augustine.
