Big Brothers and Big Sisters Association of Florida Marketing and Communications Specialist, Genna Lunsford, informed Historic City News that the State of Florida has approved a specialty license plate to help fund its mentoring programs for children throughout the state.
Florida vehicle owners must commit to buy 1,000 license plates before they are produced. When you renew your tags or register a new vehicle, the Association is asking you to select the new “Big Brothers and Big Sisters” style plate. Your $25 specialty plate fee will go to the Association and you will be given a voucher to be exchanged for the new tag as soon as they are available. Regular county and state vehicle registration fees apply.
“We are extremely excited to launch our specialty license plate program,” said Jody Clifford, CEO of Big Brothers and Big Sisters Association of Florida. “We invite community members to take their support on the road and buy their plates today to help generate much-needed revenue to expand mentoring opportunities for children in Florida.”
Clifford told Historic City News that he hopes the presence of the tags, once they are distributed, will help build awareness for the non-profit community organization as well as generate much needed operation revenue.
Vouchers for the new plates can now be purchased at local County Tax Collector’s offices. The Association has until June 1, 2015 to sell 1,000 vouchers.
