Book signing part of Talk like a Pirate Day

St Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum proprietor and author, Pat Croce, was on hand to sign his new book “Sir Francis Drake” in conjunction with festivities celebrating “Talk like a Pirate Day”.
A large crowd of “pirates” of all ages put on their eye patches and peg legs and then filled the courtyard at 12 South Castillo Drive; adorned in full pirate regalia. Parrots were optional.
“There is no better way to show the world you’re a pirate and have fun in the Nation’ss Oldest City,” said St Petersburg visitor, Barbara Smith.
Little pirates enjoyed an improvised playground where they learned pirate phrases and gestures. Jake, from the popular children’s television show “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” provided live entertainment while some played pirate ship float and boules.
The Colonial Quarter restaurant served the traditional “salmagundi”, and the party continued with live music by Dirty James and the Rusty Anchors at the “Taberna del Caballo”.
