Ten minutes has been allocated to local real estate broker, Irene Arriola, during the General Public Presentations agenda for Monday evening’s meeting of the St Augustine City Commission; at which time Historic City News readers will hear about a contract for purchase of the 102 Bridge Street building.
The City of St Augustine purchased the property that formerly was home to the “M&M Market” after it was shut down and seized during a November 4, 2010 multi-agency police raid.
On a motion by Mayor Joe Boles during a city commission meeting on Monday December 13, 2010, “with no particular use in mind”, Boles, Nancy Sikes-Kline and Errol Jones voted to pay $308,871 to buy the building that has sat vacant and off the tax rolls ever since.
What is not on the public agenda Monday is a consent approval to spend an additional amount, not to exceed $40,000, for a Limited Phase II Environmental Site Assessment; incorporating an estimate for gasoline tank removal, if present on the property. If approved, the City will use “reserve funds” to pay for the cost.
If you plan to attend, the City Commission Meeting will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013, beginning at 5:00 P.M. in the Alcazar Room of the City Hall Building located at 75 King Street in St Augustine.
