Constitutional officers present budget requests

Beginning this morning at 9:00 a.m., Historic City News will be covering the St Johns County Commission meeting when Doug Timms, Director, Office of Management and Budget, presents the proposed budgets for Fiscal Year 2014 from three of the five Constitutional Officers.

Being heard this morning will be Clerk of the Court Cheryl Strickland, Sheriff David Shoar, and Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes. Since Tax Collector Dennis Hollingsworth and Property Appraiser Sharon Outland are fee-based, it is not required for their budgets to be submitted to the Board of County Commissioners at this time.

Each Constitutional Officer, as available, will make a brief oral presentation to the Board relative to their respective tentative budget. Under F.S. 129.03(2), on or before June 1 of each year, Constitutional Officers shall submit to the Board of County Commissioners a tentative budget for their respective offices for the ensuing fiscal year.
