Public Affairs Director for the City of St Augustine, Paul Williamson, advised Historic City News that there will be several events this weekend that will necessitate brief road closures and are likely to cause brief traffic congestion.

Saturday, January 19 starting at 12:00pm
The procession will depart the Mission Nombre de Dios on San Marco Ave. at noon and walk south to South Castillo Dr. to St. George St., continuing to the Plaza de la Constitución for an event lasting until 2:00pm. The procession will necessitate the brief interruption of vehicular traffic along those portions of San Marco Avenue starting at noon and lasting for approximately half an hour.
Dreamers To Doers 5K Run/Walk
Monday, January 21 starting at 8:30am
The race/walk begins at the Willie Galimore Center, 399 Riberia St., then continues east on Cerro, north on Oneida St., east on Duero St., north on Washington St., west on South St., north on Palmo St., east on Lovett St., north on Washington St., west on St. Francis St., north on Dumas St., east on Bridge St., south on Marine St., west on St. Francis St., south on Cordova St. and St. George St., west on South St., south on Washington St., west on Duero St., south on Oneida St., west on Cerro St., returning to the Willie Galimore Center. Vehicular traffic should expect minor detours or brief interruptions starting at 8:30am and lasting until approximately 11:00am.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembrance
Monday, January 21 starting at 11:30am
Walkers will depart from the Boys and Girls Club, 555 West King St. at 11:30am and another group will depart St. Paul’s AME Church, 85 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. at 11:45am. The two groups will meet at The Gazebo in the Plaza de la Constitución for an event lasting until 3:30pm. As the walkers are using sidewalks and crosswalks, affect on vehicular traffic will be minimal.
