Detective Charles “Kip” Brantley at the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office informed local Historic City News reporters that on Saturday, golfers at the World Golf Village and Ponte Vedra Inn & Club became theft victims while they were distracted or playing golf.
According to the information provided, a man, whose identity is unknown, and who may have been in possession of a pink golf bag while he was on the golf courses, may have been a witness to these crimes and is being sought by law enforcement for questioning.
“Golfers had wallets and watches stolen from the golf bags which were strapped to their golf carts at each of the two courses,” Brantley explained. “The crimes occurred between 1:45 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. while the victims were playing golf.”
Surveillance video obtained from one of the pro-shops captured an image of a man who investigators say may have valuable information about the thefts or may have been otherwise involved in Saturday’s incidents.
